How We Support Financial Educators and Communities Across the UK

Leading Training & Credentials for Financial Educators

The NFEC has trained and certified more than 5,000 graduates through our Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI) program. Together, those graduates have logged over 300,000 hours of professional development and delivered financial education to 1.4 million people across 71+ countries and every U.S. state.

At the heart of our work are the industry standards we built for financial education professionals. Our Framework for Teaching Personal Finance – developed with the Danielson Group and aligned with InTASC principles – defines the knowledge, competencies, and observable practices that set exceptional financial educators apart.

Earning the CFEI credential signals that an instructor meets those benchmarks, bringing rigor, ethical practice, and instructional excellence to every program they lead.

Community Mobilization – Local Chapter Leadership

Our regional chapters lead focused advocacy, local engagement, and scalable financial wellbeing initiatives – turning instructor training into meaningful action. From life changing practical skills to partnerships with community leaders, NFEC chapters provide vital support to local organisations and recognise their achievements through award ceremonies that honour exceptional students, educators, and community champions.

Each chapter is guided by a local Advisory Board centred on three priorities: Empowerment – giving individuals and families the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions; Advocacy – delivering multi level campaigns to secure policy commitments and funding; and Relationships – forging partnerships with schools, employers, the media, and policymakers to encourage adoption and ensure long term sustainability. Together, these pillars transform classroom progress into lasting, measurable change across communities.

Community Leadership

National Advocacy with Community Impact

The NFEC is accelerating efforts to ensure that young people leave secondary school with the money management skills they need for long-term financial independence. We have moved towards a multi-dimensional, outcomes-focused advocacy strategy – raising standards, shaping public discourse, influencing policy, and addressing the systemic issues that perpetuate financial illiteracy.

Working alongside partners, developing robust standards, and driving legislative change, we are helping to build a movement that positions financial wellbeing as a national priority across education, health, and economic policy sectors.

We have also brought together advocates for financial education through our United for Financial Literacy Advocacy Committee. Each quarter, we concentrate our efforts on a targeted campaign designed to advance financial wellbeing and improve outcomes across communities.
